Services
In support of our mission to reduce the road crash problem, we offer a range
of services, including: research, evaluation,
program and policy development, information
and communication services, conference organizing,
and consultation.
The staff at the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF) has a unique
blend of research and technical expertise, gained through decades of work
in traffic safety. The senior staff
has over 65 years experience in the field and are internationally
recognized experts in research, evaluation and policy development.
In addition to their scientific and technical skills, the staff has established
an excellent reputation for producing products that clearly and concisely
communicate the results and implications. This ability has been sharpened
through years of experience interacting with the media and making hundreds
of presentations to non-technical audiences.
Research
Each year, TIRF undertakes nearly two dozen research projects that
seek to identify and describe:
- Who is at
risk (e.g., young drivers, elderly pedestrians).
- What behaviours
put road users at risk (e.g., driving while impaired, speeding, running
red lights, aggressive driving, distracted driving, driving without a seat belt).
- Which conditions
create the greatest risk on our roads (e.g., intersections, nighttime
driving).
- Why certain
groups and conditions are more risky than others.
For information on current
research at TIRF visit our listing of
projects . Our publications
list illustrates the scope of research expertise at the Foundation.
